Designed by Steve Smyers, this beautifully mature and meticulously maintained course meanders through Cheval Development's gated community where cypress trees abound along with native Florida wildlife including deer, alligators, otters, eagles, wading birds and more. Large elevated tees provide for optimum conditions and large landing areas around the well-bunkered elevated hand-mowed greens provide a picturesque setting unequaled in Greater Tampa Bay. Not the typical Florida course, Cheval has elevation changes, is well drained, has nearby water on 17 of 18 holes, has just under 100 scenic strategically placed sand traps, and has wall-to-wall irrigation. The drive along Cheval Boulevard past our signature holes, # 8 and # 9, is a glimpse of what our golfers experience, the perfect end to an inspiring day of golf.

Six sets of teeing distances provide a challenge to golfers of all levels on this par 72 layout featuring 5 par threes and 5 par fives. Three sets are individually rated and sloped for women at 4873, 5513 and 6030 yards. Four sets are rated and sloped for men, beginning with a distance of 6030 yards (popular with our senior members) and followed by our regular tees at 6419, our championship tees at 6710, and our pro tees at 7145.

Our large practice facility includes target greens, distance markings, a practice greens-side bunker, a practice fairway bunker, large putting green and separate pitching green. Our huge practice tee, including a lesson tee area, always assures a good grass lie.
